Transferring workspace ownership gives another team member complete control over your workspace, including billing, team management, and workspace deletion rights.
Before you transfer ownership
Prerequisites
You must be the current workspace Owner.
The new Owner must already be a team member in your workspace.
The new Owner must have an active Browse AI account.
Consider the implications: you'll lose Owner privileges permanently.
What happens during transfer
The selected team member becomes the new Owner.
You automatically become an Admin in the workspace.
All billing and subscription management transfers to the new Owner.
The new Owner gains full workspace control.
Step-by-step transfer process
Follow these steps to transfer ownership:
Navigate to your workspace settings.
Locate the team member you want to promote in the member list.
Click the pen icon next to their name.
Select "Owner" from the role dropdown menu.
Click "Save" to apply the role change.
Click "Yes, transfer ownership" in the confirmation dialog.
The ownership transfer is immediate and cannot be undone without the new Owner transferring it back.
After the transfer
For you (former Owner)
Your role automatically changes to Admin.
You lose access to billing and subscription settings.
You cannot delete the workspace.
You retain most other workspace management capabilities.

They have the ability to delete the workspace.
Common reasons to transfer ownership

Billing management: When a different team member needs to manage subscriptions.
Account consolidation: When centralizing workspace management under one account.
Role transition: When leaving a project but wanting the workspace to continue.
Important considerations
Before transferring
Ensure the new Owner understands their responsibilities.
Verify they have access to billing information if needed.
Consider whether Admin role might be sufficient for their needs.
Security implications
The new Owner can remove you from the workspace entirely.
They control all workspace data and robots.
Billing charges will transfer to their account management.
Troubleshooting
Can't see transfer option
Verify you're the current workspace Owner.
Check that the team member is already in your workspace.
Ensure you're in the workspace settings, not your profile settings.
Transfer button not working
Refresh the page and try again.
Contact support if the issue persists.
Need to reverse a transfer
Only the new Owner can transfer ownership back to you.
They must initiate the reverse transfer process.
Alternative: Admin role
If full ownership transfer isn't necessary, consider promoting the team member to Admin instead. Admins can:
Manage most workspace settings.
Add and remove team members.
Configure robots and integrations.
Admins cannot:
Access billing and subscription settings.
Transfer ownership.
Delete the workspace.
