Our goal is to make the process more straightforward and ensure you get the most value from your subscription. Previously, upgrading or downgrading involved complex proration calculations based on remaining time and unused credits. This process has been updated to be much clearer.
Now, when you decide to change your Browse AI subscription, here's exactly what happens:
You will be charged the full price of your new plan right away, regardless of whether you upgrade or downgrade.
Crucially, any credits you had remaining from your previous plan are not lost. These remaining credits are added to the full allowance of credits included in your new plan for the current billing cycle.
This means for your initial period on the new plan, you will have a combined, larger pool of credits available.
Your billing date will reset to the date you changed your subscription plan. Your next renewal date will be exactly one month or one year (depending on your billing frequency) from this new date.
At the beginning of your second billing cycle on the new plan (i.e., on your first renewal date after upgrading or downgrading), your credit balance will reset to the standard monthly or annual credit allocation provided by your new plan.
To illustrate this with a couple of examples...
When upgrading:
Suppose you are on the Personal monthly plan (which includes 2,000 credits per month) and have 500 credits remaining.
You decide to upgrade to the Professional plan (which includes 5,000 credits per month).
Upon upgrading, you are immediately charged the full price for the Professional plan.
Your remaining 500 credits from the Personal plan are added to the 5,000 credits of the Professional plan.
For your first billing cycle on the Professional plan, you will have a total of 5,500 credits available (5,000 new credits + 500 carried-over credits).
Your billing date is now the date of your upgrade.
When your subscription next renews (original billing cycle + one month later), your credit balance will reset to the standard Professional plan amount of 5,000 credits.
When downgrading:
Suppose you are on the Professional monthly plan (which includes 10,000 credits) and you are halfway through your billing cycle, with the whole 10,000 credits still unused.
You decide to downgrade to the Personal plan (which includes 2,000 credits per month).
Upon downgrading, you are immediately charged the full price for your new Personal plan.
Your remaining 10,000 credits from the Professional plan are added to the 2,000 credits of the Personal plan.
For your first billing cycle on the Personal plan, you will have a total of 12,000 credits available (2,000 new credits + 10,000 carrier-over credits).
Your billing date is now the date of your downgrade.
When your subscription next renews (original billing cycle + one month later), your credit balance will reset to the standard Personal plan amount of 2,000 credits.
