The video below starts at 3:07, where we show how to use Zapier's Chrome extension as a trigger for a Zap that can run your robot.

Prerequisites

  • A Browse AI account with a trained robot for data extraction

  • A Zapier account

  • The Zapier Chrome extension installed

  • Google Sheets (or another destination for your data)

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Create a Zap in Zapier

  1. Log in to your Zapier account

  2. Click "Create Zap"

  3. Set up the trigger:

    • Select "Chrome Web Extension" as the trigger app

    • Choose "Push" as the trigger event (this will allow you to trigger your workflow from any web page)

    • Complete the trigger setup and test it

2. Set Up Browse AI as the Action

  1. Add an action step to your Zap

  2. Select "Browse AI" as the app

  3. Choose "Run Task" as the action

  4. Connect your Browse AI account if not already connected

  5. Select the specific robot you want to trigger (the one trained to extract company details)

  6. Configure any necessary robot parameters or options

  7. Test the Browse AI action step

NOTE: The most important part of that Zap is where we use the Tab URL from the trigger step and map that to the Origin URL field for Browse AI.

3. Using the Workflow

  1. Navigate to a web page containing the data you want to extract (e.g., a company page on Y Combinator)

  2. Click the Zapier Chrome extension icon in your browser

  3. Select the Zap you created from the extension popup

  4. Trigger the Zap by clicking on it

  5. The Zap will:

    • Execute your Browse AI robot

    • Extract the data from the current page

    • Add the extracted information to your destination (e.g., Google Sheets if you've enabled that integration in Browse AI)

4. Checking Your Results

  1. Go to your destination (this could be Tables in Browse AI or a third-party integration)

  2. Verify that the new data has been added correctly

  3. The data should include all fields your robot was trained to extract, such as:

    • Company name

    • Founding date

    • Team size

    • Company website

    • Available job positions

    • And any other configured data points

Troubleshooting

  • If the data isn't appearing in your destination, check that all Zap steps were successfully completed

  • Ensure your Browse AI robot is correctly trained for the specific page structure

  • Verify that all necessary connections between Zapier, Browse AI, and your destination are working

Advanced Usage

You can extend this workflow by:

  • Adding conditional logic in Zapier

  • Setting up multiple destinations for your data

  • Creating filters to only process certain types of data

  • Adding notification steps to alert you when new data is processed
