Can I download files using Browse AI?

No, Browse AI doesn't currently support direct file downloads, but you can extract file URLs that can be used to download files elsewhere.

What you can do instead

Browse AI focuses on extracting text-based data from websites or screenshots, not downloading individual files like images, PDFs, or other documents.

However, you can extract a list of links to download manually or with other tools:

Scrape image URLs

Capture image URLs by selecting an image and choosing Capture image URL. This will give you a list of all image URLs on a page that you can then use to download the images manually.

Scrape file links from a web page

Extract links to downloadable files by selecting the file link element (including PDFs, documents, etc.). This will give you a list of all file links across your selected web pages.

Managed Services for scraping and extracting from files

If you're looking to extract large or complex data that includes files, our Managed Services offering might be able to create a custom solution for your needs.

How to extract file URLs step by step

  1. Create a new robot - build a robot targeting the webpage containing the files you want to download.

  2. Choose your capture method - select either Capture List for multiple similar items or Capture Text for specific file links.

  3. Select the file elements - click on the image or file link and select Capture image URL

  4. Name your data points - give clear names to your captured URLs (e.g., "Product Images" or "PDF Manuals").

  5. Preview and test - preview the data to ensure you're capturing the correct URLs.

  6. Save and run your robot - save your configuration and run the robot to extract all the URLs.

  7. Access your data - once complete, view your extracted URLs in the data tables.

  8. Download files using the URLs - use these URLs with a browser, download manager, or other tools to download the actual files.
